WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued the following statement in support the fiscal 2017 omnibus package passing both houses of Congress. The package included language requiring the federal government to treat emissions from forest biomass as carbon neutral.
“AWC is encouraged that Congress has given much needed clarity by recognizing our industry’s unique biomass use as carbon neutral and as part of the sustainable carbon cycle. The wood products industry strives to be as energy efficient as possible and is one of the leaders nationwide in the use of carbon-neutral biomass energy. On average, over 75 percent of the energy at our member companies’ wood products facilities is generated from biomass, which displaces the need for fossil fuels and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels. We look forward to working with the Administration and agencies to develop the rules that will implement this language.
“We thank Senators Collins and Murkowski and Congressmen Simpson and Calvert for their leadership on this issue.”
Fecon® introduces the newly designed Bull Hog® mulching attachment for CTL’s and skid steers. This new design has brought many great features our customers were asking for in a mulcher. With a severe duty body, bolt on skid shoes, stronger push bar, and improved mulching chamber our customers are sure to be pleased. We also made the top of the body smooth to avoid the debris and water build up that occurred in the “trough”.
This newly designed CTL Bull Hog is still offered with Fecon’s smooth drum FGT rotor, paddle style HDT rotor and our DCR, depth control rotor. So customers can still configure their Bull Hog for the job at hand. We’ve made our hose sling standard, created improved sealing of the body and made trap door and pressure gauge options easier to add on.

WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski and American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Donna Harman issued the following statement in support of the Administration’s Energy Independence Executive Order.
Robert Glowinski, President and CEO, AWC:
“Despite claims of energy flexibility intended under the Clean Power Plan, EPA actually limited the types of renewable energy states can use, which included our industry’s production and use of carbon neutral biomass energy. The Clean Air Act did not give EPA the authority to impose such sweeping restrictions on existing electric utility generating utilities. The wood products industry plays an important and unique role in reducing greenhouse gases by converting manufacturing biomass residuals to energy needed to power our mills. AWC supports this Executive Order and will continue to seek clarity on EPA’s treatment of biomass to ensure it is recognized as a critical component of clean energy.”
Donna Harman, President and CEO, AF&PA:
“We welcome the Energy Independence Executive Order to provide states and ratepayers, including paper and wood products manufacturers, long-overdue relief from harmful regulatory overreach. The nation deserves affordable, reliable electricity, not rate hikes and competitive harm that can stem from onerous regulation such as the Clean Power Plan. On average, our industry meets about two-thirds of its energy demand through carbon neutral renewable biomass and is able to sell some energy to the grid. We plan to continue working with policy makers to provide an effective solution that recognizes the carbon benefits of biomass energy in paper and wood products manufacturing facilities.”
Background: The American Wood Council and American Forest & Paper Association have supported efforts in federal court to turn back the EPA’s Clean Power Plan (CPP). They joined a petition for review of EPA’s final CPP in the D.C. Circuit Court in October of 2015; filed a joint petition for review of EPA’s treatment of biomass energy in the final CPP in December of 2015; and filed joint comments requesting EPA recognize the benefits of biomass as a fuel source in its CPP federal plan and model carbon trading rules in January of 2016. They also joined a petition for review challenging EPA’s New Source Performance Standards filed in December 2015.

LX450 Sawmill Specifications include:
Power Options of 38 HP Kohler Gas EFI; 35 HP Yanmar Diesel option coming soon
Cutting Capacity
- 36” (910 mm) diameter x 21’ (6.4 m) length
- 34” (860 mm) width of cut and 16 ½” (419 mm) depth of cut

“Wood-Mizer has long been the only sawmill manufacturer of the monorail cantilever design, holding several patents on this technology and trusted by 70,000 sawmillers throughout the world,” said Greg Bacon, Wood-Mizer Sales Director. “Every sawyer has different needs and preferences which led to the addition of the LX sawmill series. You can now own an LT series monorail or LX series twin rail sawmill and receive the best support in the industry enjoyed by Wood-Mizer sawmill owners throughout the past 35 years.”
