Hurdle Machine Works, Inc. is committed to designing and manufacturing simple, dependable, and affordable sawmill equipment including complete band and circle mill packages, edgers, resaws, log turners, and linear carriages.
Hurdle Machine Works Inc introduces the Magnum LT Linear carriage, the latest addition to the Magnum carriage line which has successfully been in production for the last 10 years.
With 40" knee openings and 29" dog openings the carriage is the perfect size for today's hardwood mills. The first carriage went out in May and is operating in a 6 foot double cut bandmill running Lewis Controls setworks. Along with a Hurdle Resaw the mill is cranking out 50,000+ bd/ft per day of grade lumber. Superior engineering focused on simple design in an 8000 to 12000lb package with multiple options make this a smart investment. Parts are stocked for immediate shipment. However, the design is simple and there aren't many parts to worry about.
Videos of the new linear carriage can be found at www.youtube.com/hurdlemachineworks.
Hurdle Machine Works Inc., located in Moscow TN, has manufactured its 500th complete sawmill which will be delivered to Hoosier Pallets in Milroy, Indiana. Hurdle has sold complete mills in the U.S. since 1969, and has continuously improved the mill design. From Oregon to Maine to Texas – Hurdle mills are producing big-time ties, timbers, and lumber all over the country. The simplicity of the mill, along with its pure toughness and production capability have made this the go-to machine to handle all types of logs.
Over the past several years, mills have been sold to some of the largest wood manufacturers in the US. “We never thought that we would be doing business with companies the size of Anderson-Tully”, says Jeff Hurdle, VP. “When they came to Moscow to order their mill, they brought 10 people with them to help make the decision. Since then, they have installed the mill and have been sawing successfully producing lumber that adds to their operation. They love the mill”.
John Hurdle, VP says “We have a great crew helping us manufacture these mills. Dad is here every day which is a blessing. Between Jeff and I, we have 5 kids. Hopefully at least some of them can take over the business one day to keep it going”.
E.J. Hurdle, founder and President, says, “At first, nobody else would take a chance on me. After seeing the first mill work, orders started coming in. We've been perfecting these mills ever since”
Hurdle Machine Works designed and implemented its website which can be found at www.hurdlemachineworks.com. Videos have been added to www.youtube.com/hurdlemachineworks. Each mill that goes out is shown on Facebook at www.facebook.com/hurdlemachineworks.
Hurdle Machine Works, Inc. recently updated its website to better reflect its mission, values, and message. The website details the company's history and team, while showcasing its mills and machinery. Underlying it all is a focus on simple, dependable, and affordable sawmill products.
Hurdle Machine Works was created in 1969 with a complete automatic sawmill, made from scratch, and ready to be installed in the woods. Over 450 complete mills later, the same philosophy of simple, productive sawmills has carried the company and its customers through good times and bad. During the 2008-2009 downturn, Hurdle sawmills gave many operations, big and small, a way to survive. Mill owners soon realized that the Hurdle sawmill was an efficient, affordable way to remain viable when markets were crashing.
Being efficient and productive with low capital machinery costs allowed companies to be more versatile and adapt to changing markets faster than previously possible.
The Hurdle sawmill can be configured for any size operation. The mill can be configured to cut cross ties, grade, or mat material. With over 40 years of design improvements, the Hurdle mill is a proven machine. As they say, "If you relentlessly pursue perfection, you will eventually catch excellence".
