This reduces the load on the motor saving operating cost, instead of dampening the airflow with an outlet damper that is required on other starter options. On system shut down the VFD slows the fan down to a preset speed of 20 HZ for 5 minutes (the duration of the down time cleaning cycle), this prevents dust from backflowing out of the collector due to the cleaning system pressurizing the collector creating a back flow through the ductwork.
